Coping with Lower Back Pain

It has been about 6 months since my last epidural injection. The cortisone is continuing to bring me relief in the effected disc and I've been as active as usual. However, I did notice some mild discomfort in my lower back after bending and lifting some heavier objects.

This is where I have to continue to be careful with my back and stick with the minor excercises as proscribed by the physical therapist. The building of the core abdominal muscles is key in getting better back support and thus not herniating the disc in question.

I totally agree with the importance of building up your core muscles. Since I work on computers all day long, I was starting to have some back aches from time to time. When I started a workout routine with many abdominal exercises, my back started feeling better fairly quickly.

I have a friend that suffers lower back pain from a back surgery after a car accident. How do you cope with the pain? what type of medicine works for you and have you tried acupuncture?

was this caused by an injury or was it congenital?

Not sure of the native source of this issue. Possibly taking a lot of spills as a kid (skateboarding, jumping off things and landing on the ground, football)
