Three Weeks Without PT, and Update

When I got back from my Asia trip (which was preceded by a quick family trip to
Michigan) it had been three weeks since I'd had PT. And if I needed any more
proof that it was helping, I sure got it. I could really feel that I hadn't had
any in weeks. And you know what? I walked into therapy in pain, and walked out
with 90% of that pain gone.
So, back on the pain front, I've felt a
little lately. I'm also at the end of my Lupron again. Coincidence? I called
Dr. Nath to tell her about the success with PT and to ask when I needed to start
birth control again. (How many menopausal women have to worry about that?)
I started oral birth control again yesterday, and we'll see what
happens now. A few friends have joked that maybe I'll go through puberty now
that menopause is ending. I sure hope not; from what I remember, puberty wasn't
much fun.

About Me: I spent five months in daily pain before finally being diagnosed with endometriosis. I understand the frustration of chasing a diagnosis, and the hopelessness that comes with daily pain. I'm still fighting the endo, as it has no cure (YET!) and I'm trying to share information as I get through treatment.

Interests: Reading, writing, wine-tasting, spending time with my husband, dog, and friends.
Medical Conditions: Endometriosis, depression, severe food allergies, migraines

Sandra
when you go back on the birth control, is it going to do the same thing that the lupron did? stop the periods? I made the mistake of not stopping my periods and now I think my endo is back. How would this work if you decide to have children one day? thank you for all the info and I am glad the PT is helping!

Hi Carrie,
It won't stop my periods. My doc is hoping that the pill moderates the periods, though, so that the endo doesn't grow back. But I'm well aware that it could. If I wanted to have babies, I would just stop the pill and see if I'm fertile. (But we don't think we want any, actually.)
I think we are sort of entering the non-menopause with a wait and see attitude. We'll go back on the pill and see what my body does. (Fingers crossed!)

Please keep me posted Sandra. I am going to ask my doctor about PT as well. Your journals have been very helpful, please do write more about your trip to asia!

That's great to know that PT is significantly effective for you. It's also good hear that you no longer have to wonder if PT was helping you. Thanks to your post, I think I have found a refreshed appreciation for PT in general!
I agree with Carrie, I'd love to hear more about your trip to Asia too. What countries did you visit?

I went to Sydney and Singapore, both on a business trip. I had a few extra days in Sydney, and my husband went there with me, so we were able to get out of Sydney and visit some friends. We spent a little time on the coast near Newcastle and also did wine-tasting in Hunter Valley. It was lovely!!
In Singapore, I only had a few days. But I'd visited there before, so that was ok. I was able to see some friends for dinner there. I'm lucky to get to do a lot of international travel for my job. In two weeks, I'm headed to England!
