Yesterday was a pretty smooth transition from the hospital to home. I
thought that I wouldn't be able to climb the stairs between the kitchen and
bedroom levels, but I was pleasantly surprised that I could do them quite
easily, although slowly. I was not out of breath and I really wasn't feeling any
pain. In fact, I had told my brother not to buy the pain medication that was
prescribed to me, because I knew that I most likely wouldn't need them.
I have my first good look at my body and think my right breast looks
pretty pathetic. It is swollen and kind of elongated. My cousin says it looks
'tubular'. I'm sure it will get back to normal when the swelling and internal
stitches go away. There is also a lot of bruising around the area.
My taste buds are 'off' and I'm a bit alarmed by this. Bananas taste a little
sour, cherries have no flavor, and oranges and mangoes taste really tart. I'll
pay attention to see if this gets better.
The ripped skin around my
neck has started to get itchy as it heals and scabs over. It looks like I have
some type of henna tattoo.
I'm tired and need to take frequent
naps during the day. I spend my time watching romantic comedies and reading
magazines, since I rarely get the chance to do these things during normal life.
